Welcome to FarmCoast New England!

Located within a one hour drive south of Boston and near Providence, Newport, Cape Cod, and the communities of Southeastern Massachusetts, this area has retained a rural and historical character of farms, villages, beaches, and harbors. We invite you to enjoy this beauty with us.

Here you will discover the historic villages of Stone Bridge and Tiverton Four Corners in Tiverton; Adamsville and the Commons in Little Compton; Central Village, Head of Westport, and Westport Point in Westport, and Russells Mills and Padanaram in Dartmouth.

With this guide you will find places to visit, places to eat, and places to stay. In the villages you will find specialty shops for home and garden and art and artisan galleries. Visit also our farms and nurseries, farmstands, and historic buildings.

Fall is the season of the harvest. With our large number of farms and farm stands you will find apple-picking, fresh sweet cider, pumpkins and colorful squashes, Indian corn, cornstalks, honey, jams, and jellies. Sweet corn is still available, and many of the nurseries carry colorful hardy mums for fall decorating.

Legend of Turnips, Westports Macomber Turnip

Westport is famous for the Macomber turnip, a cross between a turnip and rutabaga that thrives in Westport’s sandy soil. Visit the only historic marker to a vegetable on Westport’s Main Road! [Farmcoast New England also hosts the only historic marker to a chicken! You will find that on the corner of the baseball field in “downtown” Adamsville].

Our foliage rivals that of the northern New England states, but is a little later. Our most colorful season begins in late September and peaks in late October. Enjoy your tour of FarmCoast New England.
